Arizona Fall League Begins with a Bang

October 8, 2008 by

Already, the stars are emerging in the AFL with the opening day a huge success for some teams. While the remainder of the season is yet to be played out, there have already been some huge impacts by some of this year’s performers. With a days combination of 30 runs 55 hits, including 2 home runs and 4 stolen bases, there was plenty of action in Arizona for the first day of the Fall League.

Some of the performances worth noting included, Arizona Diamondbacks’ Max Scherzer who delivered 78 pitches and Phil Hughes of the Ney York Yankees, affiliate with 86. Outside of the pitching performances, there was plenty of offense, as can be illustrated by the number of runs and hits that were manufactured in the first day of play.
