AFL Day Three

October 9, 2008 by

There should be no surprise about the level of baseball that has been played to date. With only three days into the Arizona Fall League, stars already seem to be rising as there is plenty of baseball left to play. Mike Baxer, who was featured in yesterday’s news is currently batting 1.000. Shawn Bowman of the Mets affiliate organization created four runs for his dominating Saguaros. Phil Hughes of the Yankees recorded 7 strikeouts and our own Max Scherzer has already pitched 7 full innings of baseball.

While most of us are flipping between playoff games, these talented young stars have been showing off their skills in the heat of the desert. Although the weather should be cool for the majority of the Fall League games, the high has been an average of over 95 degrees for the first week of baseball. This weekend promises to be more pleasant as the temperature is expected to drop into the high 70’s. Take advantage of Arizona’s gorgeous weather and take in some ball games at a park near you.
