Peoria Saguaros Remain Unbeaten

October 13, 2008 by

The Peoria Saguaros continue to roll over the Arizona Fall League competition as they beat the Surprise Rafters 11-6. Peoria trailed by three runs going into the eighth inning when San Diego Padres’ Chad Huffman hit an RBI double that sparked the nine run eighth inning. Arizona State University’s Brett Wallace was one of the inning’s contributors, hitting one of the team’s RBI singles. Multiple RBI singles were followed by an RBI triple that was hit by Leonard Davis of the Washington Nationals.

One performance of note was delivered by the New York Mets’ Daniel Murphy. Murphy, who played 49 games in the regular season for the Mets in the outfield has been practicing in the infield for the Saguaros. Although he is listed at first base, Murphy has been playing second base as of late for Peoria. Murphy ended up going 4-for-4 with two RBIs in the game against the Rafters. Daniel, who has been able to shoot the gaps on the field had a spactacular game on Monday afternoon as he helped his team to remain unbeatten in the Arizona Fall League.
