Two More D-Backs File for Free Agency
November 2, 2008 by AZ Hardball

Adam Dunn and Orlando Hudson are the latest Diamondbacks to file for free agency this period while they announced their move late Saturday. Unfortunately, the odds are not in the favor of the D-Backs when it comes to signing either of these players as the team is limited by a $10 million dollar budget for free agents. While the latest round of free agents will truly be a loss to the team, there is no doubt that they D-Backs can continue to remain a solid team for the 2009 season.
While Adam Dunn was unavailable to comment, our guess would have been that he would be. After Dunn’s stellar contribution to the team at the end of last season, once Arizona was eliminated from the playoff race, it seemed that Adam Dunn’s play tapered off. Dunn’s lack enthusiasm was painfully apparent in the closing series against the Colorado Rockies where the jumbotron showed a “bored” Dunn thanking the fans for a wonderful season. We knew then, that he would probably not return.
As for Orlando Hudson, he has mentioned that his first choice would be to play here in Arizona but, he feels that the club will probably head in another direction. Orlando is an excellent athlete and should not be taken back if the team can not afford him. As much as some of the fans would like to see him stick around, finances may continue to be an issue in the keeping of Orlando Hudson in Arizona.
