Javelinas Extend Losing Streak to Eight Games

The previously first-place Peoria Javelinas continue their slump as they lost big to Surprise at home. The Raters delivered 11 runs off of 13 hits against the Peoria team at they win 11-4. Brandon Snyder and Wes Hodges hit in three runs a piece with a home run each to help their team with the cause. Josh Tomlin, a prospect of the Cleveland Indians, takes the win as the pitcher as he goes nine scoreless innings. The Surprise Rafters remain in third place in the American Division as they tighten the gap in the standings with the Javelinas.

In more afternoon baseball action, the Mesa Solar Sox beat the Phoenix Desert Dogs in Phoenix. Mesa started off with the lead early in the first inning as a result of a double hit by Jeff Larish that would score Quintin Berry. While the game remained scoreless for Phoenix, Logan Morrison would strike again with his second home run in two days. Morrison would hit a three run shot that would score himself, Will Rhymes and Quintin Berry.  Phoenix would remain in first place in their division while the Solar Sox would close in on the first-place Saguaros.

In the final game of the day, the Scorpions would take on the Saguaros in Scottsdale. The Scorpions would have big fourth and fifth innings scoring five of the game’s runs with some outstanding offensive play. The Saguaros would earn one run in the top of the eighth inning which would be all that the team could muster. During the game, the Peoria Saguaros were plagued by some wild pitching which would end up costing the team only one run but, the pitching would end up costing them the game, losing to Scottsdale by a score of 3-7.
