Petit, Pucetas and Scorpions Sting Rafters
November 10, 2008 by AZ Hardball

Chris Petit had an excellent week last week as he was named the offensive player of the week for week five of the Arizona Fall League. On Monday, he showed no signs of slowing down as he helped to propel the Scottsdale Scorpions to another victory. On the mound for each team were some solid prospects that included the Giant’s Kevin Pucetas and Brian Matusz of the Orioles. Pucetas went five innings, striking out four while Matusz pitched four innings with five strikeouts.
In a high-scoring game between the Solar Sox and the Javelinas, Peoria beat Mesa by contributing five homeruns. Two of the Peoria homeruns we hit by the Milwaukee Brewers Lorenzo Cain. Cain would go 4-for-4 with the two “dingers” and five RBIs. Casper Wells of the Mesa Solar Sox also hit his third home run of the AFL season. The Javelinas would go on to win the game by a score of 13-9.
In another high-scoring matchup, the Peoria Saguaros would defeat the Phoenix Desert Dogs in Peoria. Desert Dogs Doolittle and McKenry would both hit their eighth home runs of the season which would not prove to be enough against the American Division leading Saguaros. Both Wallace and Desmond of the Saguaros would contribute three RBIs a piece with Desmond hitting the lone Peoria home run. Despite the loss, the Desert Dogs still maintain a healthy lead in their division while ahead of the Peoria Javalinas by four and a half games.
