The Big Unit Leaves AZ to Pitch for Rival Giants

December 28, 2008 by AZ Hardball

feat_dbacks_0001Randy Johnson will no longer be in a Diamondbacks uniform as he signs a one-year agreement with the San Francisco Giants. Randy, having pitched tremendously for the D-backs during his career has voiced some amount of disappointment as he leaves Phoenix to pitch for the NL West Division rivals.

Randy Johnson will be turning 46 next year and has the opportunity to face his former team 18 times next year. Although it is sad to see Randy go and some fans have voiced their disapproval, we remember his departure to the New York Yankees in 2005. We will have the opportunity to see The Big Unit play during Cactus League Spring Training 2009 and against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
