Peavy almost flawless in win over Cubs

March 1, 2009 by

teams_sdSan Diego Padres ace pitcher Jake Peavy was almost flawless allowing only one hit in three shut-out innings against the Chicago Cubs. The Padres scored three in the first inning off Cubs starter Ryan Dempster. After allowing three runs on two hits with a walk in the first, Dempster came back to pitch a scoreless second inning. Ryan Theriot continued his blistering hot spring at the plate going  2 for three. Theriot is hitting .600 in his ten plate appearances this spring. As hot as Theriot has been at the plate, he has struggled in the field where he now has three errors this spring.
