Milwood’s strong outing helps lead Rangers over Royals

March 4, 2009 by Dean

teams_texTexas Rangers catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia continued his hot spring going 1-for-2 with an RBI double raising his average to .583 in this year’s Cactus League. Rangers first baseman Justin Smoak blasted a three run homer off Kansas City pitcher Dan Cortes in the 7th helping secure a 5-3 win for the Rangers. Royals third baseman Alex Gordon hit his second home run of the spring and looks like he is continuing his growth from his first two season. Rangers starter Kevin Milwood looked sharp with three shut out innings allowing two hits, 1 walk and recording one strikeout.
