Garland roughed up in D-backs loss

March 9, 2009 by

teams_sdThis is not the Jon Garland the Arizona Diamondbacks are hoping to see on the mound for them in the 2009 season. Garland was roughed up by division rivals San Diego Padres today and was lifted after one out in the third inning. When the book was writen on Garland he had allowed six earned runs on six hits in his 2.1 innings. Arizona right fielder Justin Upton continued a solid spring the D-Backs are hoping caries through out the year going 1-for-2 with a walk and run scored and raised his spring average to .353. Maybe the only D-Back hitter having a better spring is thrid baseman Mark Reynolds who is hitting .438 after today’s 2-for-3 performance. Two of AZ’s three runs came off a 7th inning homer by catcher Miguel Montero.
