D-Backs continue spring troubles

March 12, 2009 by

teams_oakArizona Diamondbacks pitcher Dan Haren started a little rough against his former Oakland Athletics teammates, but settled down to allow only one run and one hit in three innings. Haren allowed his only hit in the first inning, a RBI single, after walking two of the first four batters in the first inning. A’s right-handed prospect Vin Mazzaro has been spectacular this spring and in four appearances has yet to allow a run. In his three inning start today Mazzaro allowed four hits and struck out one in the win. Arizona right fielder Justin Upton continued to do what he has done best this spring by getting on base. Upton was 1-for2 with a double and a walk.
