Cubs bats explode to score 20

March 23, 2009 by

teams_chcThe Oakland Athletics probably wished there was a mercy rule today as the Chicago Cubs scored in eight of their nine innings and thrashing the A’s 20-5. The Cubs scored the 20 runs on 24 hits. 12 of the 16 Cubs to step up to the plate had a hit and all 12 scored at least one run too. The only pitcher to leave the game unscathed for the A’s was Andrew Baily who is attempting to make the big league roster. Bailey’s scoreless inning kept his ERA at a perfect 0.00 this spring. The Cubs hit two homers on the day, the first of the season by Derrek Lee and Paul Backo and both were solo shots.
