Giants and Cubs Called Early Due to Wind

March 26, 2009 by

teams_sfIn an extremely windy day in Scottsdale, the Giants and Cubs played in front of a sold out crowd in an evening matchup. It seems to us that this particular game is sold out every year. Due to the fact that both teams are rivals of course and it is one of the final games in which both teams get a chance to allow most of their starters to play.

Barry Zito would pitch well for the Giants although he allowed one home run to the Cubs’ Milton Bradley. The Giants would take the game thanks to Mother Nature by a score of 8 to 5. The game would only last six and a half innings of play due to the high winds. In some areas of Metro Phoenix, the winds exceeded 50 miles per hour.
