Indians Mariners Marathon Battle Ends in Tie

April 1, 2009 by

azhb_default_articleThe 28 run extravaganza in Peoria would end in a tie as the two teams hit a combined seven homers in the game. Cleveland would start the game with the lead that was later regained by the Mariners in the same inning. The lead would exchange for a bit while the two teams would battle it out at the plate. Ken Griffey Jr. would have his second home run of Spring Training in the seventh inning. While it seemed as if the Mariners would win the game, the Indians would score two more runs in the top of the ninth inning to tie the game while the Mariners would remain scoreless for that same inning. The game would end at 14 all as they tie.
