Arizona Falls to White Sox in Exhibition

In their first exhibition matchup, the Arizona Diamondbacks are defeated by the Chicago White Sox at Chase Field. Rookie Barry Enright gets the start as he pitches three consecutive scoreless innings against Chicago. The White Sox would score first in the top of the fifth inning of play. Carlos Quinten would hit a two run double that would put his team on the board. The White Sox would score again in the seventh inning while the D-backs would answer with two runs of their own.

Both Mark Reynolds and Felipe Lopez would drive in runs in the seventh inning in what appeared to be a bit of a rally. The Arizona short-lived rally would be squelched by the three run eighth inning. The three runs by the White Sox would be enough to give the team a solid lead over the Diamondbacks for the remainder of the game. Despite the additional run scored by Arizona in the bottom of the eighth inning, they were unable to score again.

The Diamondbacks would end up losing to the White Sox by a score of 3 to 6. Some additional hitting notes for the D-backs included Chad Tracy pinch hitting, going 1-for-1 with one RBI. Additionally, Stephen Drew would have a double in the game. Chris Young would prove that he remains a threat on the base paths as he steals a base for the team.

Both teams played solid baseball this evening and it was nice to see Reynolds drive in a run. His spring training performance is hopefully enough to strengthen his confidence at the plate. Although he did strike out twice this evening he has developed leaps and bounds during the spring and we are excited to see what he is able to do during the season. Although Drew was quiet this evening we are looking forward to more from him. Felipe Lopez had a decent game as well as he goes two-for-four with two RBIs.
