The St. Louis Cardinals would beat the D-backs as both teams remember Jackie Robinson today by a score of 12 to 7. The infield would struggle for the Diamondbacks as they committed three errors; two by Lopez and one by Reynolds. Pineiro would get his second win of the season despite his five earned runs. Garland would have a rough outing with seven earned runs of his own in only three innings.

It seemed that there was no stopping the Cardinals as they delivered 12 runs off of four doubles, a triple and a home run. The D-backs would show some offense in both the third and sixth innings but, not enough to put out the fire in St. Louis’ bats. Seven Cardinals would have one or more RBI’s as the team defeats Arizona for the third and final game of this series.

This comes as a tough loss for the team, especially since delivering offensively has been a theme as of late. Despite the loss, there was no shortage of contributions from the team. Arizona would have five doubles of their own as well as two home runs in the loss to the Cardinals. Unfortunately, Stephen Drew was silenced today as he would be without a hit. Both Byrnes and Reynolds would step up with a home run a piece in the seven run effort by the team.

On the pitching side of things, the team continues to work out their strategy for the rotation and middle relief. The staff may have been a little overwhelmed on Wednesday as they were only able to strike out one batter. There is still plenty of baseball left for the team to get these kinks figured out. In the meantime, the D-backs are looking forward to facing their National League West rivals, the San Francisco Giants.

Dan Haren is expected to pitch on Friday. On Saturday the probables include Doug Davis and NL Cy Young Award Winner Tim Lincecum. Sunday all eyes will be on Max Scherzer as he is scheduled to take on Randy Johnson. Johnson was battered by the Dodgers earlier this week, so this should be an interesting matchup. Thursday is a day off for Arizona.
