Haren, D-backs Shutout Colorado

April 22, 2009 by

feat_dbacks_0008Dan Haren would come into the game with a 0-3 record as Arizona would come off of a loss from the evening before. Haren would pitch seven scoreless innings with nine strike outs as he earns his first victory of the year. In a game where the bats were relatively quiet, the D-backs would be able to hold onto the lead by some excellent support from Tony Pena and Chad Qualls.

The lone run hit would be an RBI double by pinch-hitter Ryan Roberts as he drove in Chris Young. Roberts would hit the first pitch over the second baseman for hit RBI single. The second run would come on a run scoring walk to Connor Jackson as Chris Snyder would score.

Stephen Drew would be back in action but remained pretty quiet at the plate as he starts getting back into the swing of things after being day-to-day with his hamstring. The D-backs will have tomorrow off as they prepare for the series against the San Francisco Giants. On Friday, Jonathan Sanchez is currently scheduled to pitch against Doug Davis for Friday night’s game.
