Lincecum Hot, D-backs Not

April 24, 2009 by

azhb_default_article2008 Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum threw twelve strikes through eight innings, allowing only one run in the Giants’ victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks. Doug Davis would give up a home run immediately in the first inning before giving up another in the third. In all, he would strike out five, while giving up five runs in six innings.

On the offensive side of things, the D-backs were short of productive as they continued to be baffled by Lincecum’s pitching for the majority of the game. In the bottom of the third inning, Eric Byrnes would hit a shot that would hit the top of the wall. The game would be stopped for the umpires to check the instant replay which resulted in upholding the ruling that the hit was indeed a double. A highlight of the video can be seen here at

Saturday, Randy Johnson will face off against Max Scherzer as the Diamondbacks look to halt San Francisco’s four game win streak. Game time is at 5:10 Arizona time.
