D-backs Winners in Extra Innings

April 26, 2009 by

The Diamondbacks looked to snap the Giants’ five-game win streak as they played an afternoon game at Chase Field. The D-backs would come off of a disappointing loss to the Giants the day before and an excellent outing by Lincecum on Friday to beat the Giants in extra innings.

Arizona would begin with the lead, thanks to a solo home run by Mark Reynolds in the bottom of the second inning. In the top of the fourth inning, the Giants would come back to tie the game at one. In the top of the eighth inning, San Francisco would score three more runs to give the team the lead.

The D-backs would not go down lightly as Justin Upton helps by tying the game at four in suspense-filled fashion in the bottom of the ninth inning. The two teams would go into extra innings when, at the bottom of the twelfth inning, the D-backs would load the bases for Conor Jackson who would drive one into left enter field to drive in the game winning run.

The D-backs would lose the series but win the final game as they prepare to face the Chicago Cubs tomorrow at 6:40PM Arizona time. Chicago’s Ted Lily is scheduled to appear against Yusmeiro Petit in the first game of this series and the final series of the home stand for the Arizona Diamondbacks.
