In the bottom of the 11th Chad Qualls took to the mound with a three run lead. Qualls gave up singles to Jason Giambi and Nomar Garciaparra.  Second baseman Adam Kennedy would double scoring Giambi and putting runners on second and third with only one out. reach tie run to plate with one out.  Sweeny hit a ball that took a strange hop and Reynolds fielded the ball clean, but had no play. With runners on first and third Qualls needed a double playto get out of the inning and that is exactly what he got. Drew fielded a ball cleanly, flipped to Roberts at second who bare handed the ball and threw to first to record the game-saving double play.
