Reynolds Assists Haren with Fourth Win

May 28, 2009 by

feat_dbacks_0008The Arizona Diamondbacks defeated Derek Lowe and the Atlanta Braves by a score of 5-2 as pitcher Dan Haren evens up his record at 4-4. Dan would get some run support from his teammates as Mark Reynolds would deliver, once again, with a two run double in the fourth inning to give some momentum to the team.

The game would begin in Arizona’s favor as the team would score first in the bottom of the second inning. In the beginning of the following inning, the Braves would tie the game up with one run of their own. In the fourth inning the D-backs would score four runs that included the two runs by Mark Reynolds, an RBI by Eric Byrnes and one by third baseman Ryan Roberts.

Overall, the team looked solid on this night as Eric Byrnes would go two-for-four with a single, a triple and an RBI. The bullpen did fare well in this game but, they would receive some excellent defensive support. The team would give up no errors and would have some spectacular fielding plays including an off-balance throw by Augie Ojeda and Stephen Drew’s throw to first from his knees.

The Friday night game will be concluded with fireworks, weather permitting. Jair Jurrjens will face off against Jon Garland as the D-backs look for another victory. Arizona is now two games up on the Rockies and three games behind the San Francisco Giants.
