Jon Garland redeemed himself from his wost start of the season and followed it up today with his best start as a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks, but that was not enough to down the first-place Los Angeles Dodgers. Garland ended up throwing six innings of one run ball while only allowing four hits and striking out six. Jon Rauche and Clay Zavada followed up Garland’s outing with two more scoreless innings.

Justin Upton went 1-for-3 with a with a stolen base and Stephen Drew went 2-for-4, but neither we able to cross home plate as the D-backs were held scoreless in the 1-0 loss. The D-backs squandered many opportunities as they left 18 runners on base compared to the Dodgers 9.
