D-backs Unable to Take Series from Astros

June 15, 2009 by

azhb_default_articleThe Arizona Diamondbacks looked to win another series this past weekend but had a difficult time catching up this Sunday. Still more milestones for the Astros as Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez has one of his own, as he appears in his 2,225th game of his career. The D-backs would begin the game playing catch up but the Houston Astros would never look back.

Leading the game by the time the Diamondbacks were up to the plate, the Astros would maintain their lead as the D-backs were only able to score two in the first inning of play. During that inning, Stephen Drew would hit his fourth home run of the season but the Astros would score again in the third. In the Fourth inning, Mark Reynolds would hit a solo shot which would be his 17th of the season and add some punch to an already powerful week for the Arizona third baseman.

Billy Buckner would give up six runs, all of them earned and Rauch would give up two. The Diamondbacks travel to Kansas City to face the Royals in their first game of interleague play.
