Diamondbacks Blank Bucks
July 27, 2009 by AZ Hardball
After a convincing defeat on Friday night, the Diamondbacks showed the Pirates some offensive prowess and some solid pitching. The D-backs, who are preparing for a tough series against the Philadelphia Phillies, would blank the Pirates with the help of Doug Davis and a much improved bullpen.
Outfielder Justin Upton would hit a two-run shot in the fourth inning that would propel the team for the rest of the game. The homer by Upton set the stage for five more runs by the D-backs who have extended the hitting streaks of the four same players. Despite the excellent offensive performances by the D-back, the team has been getting some excellent performances from their relief pitching.
The Diamondbacks will face the Pirates for the final game of the series on Sunday afternoon at Chase Field.
