Pac 10 Duo Begins Day Three

ASU star Leake and USC’s Boxberger would pitch in today’s Peoria matchup. Leake would pitch two scoreless innings striking out two with a base on balls. Boxberger would allow three less hits in two innings but the one hit allowed was one for a run. Boxberger would match Leake in strikeouts and innings pitched. Despite the decent pitching at the beginning of the game, the Javelinas would come back with some offensive power, muscling five homeruns for the game as they take the game by a score of 17-to-9.

Surprise would get a quick lead to start the game in the bottom of the first inning. Mike Moustakas would nail a two RBI double in the inning to give the team the lead. The Solar Sox would score their first run in the fourth and two more in the fifth but the Rafters would never look back. Surprise would score three more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and five more to add some insurance for the remainder of the game. Jose Iglesias would have himself a homerun for the Solar Sox as Mike Moustakas and Colin Curtis would have one a piece for the Rafters.

A back and forth battle would begin in Scottsdale as the Scorpions would take the lead in the second inning. The Desert Dogs would score three in the third. The Scorpions would regain the lead in the fourth inning scoring two more runs. In the top of the following inning, the Desert Dogs would get a home run a piece from Corey Brown and Grant Desme before the first out of the inning to regain the lead once again. The desert Dogs would score three more runs in the game to secure their lead and the win as they down the Scottsdale Scorpions by a score of 9 to 4.

For those of you fans interested, first round draft pick Steven Strasburg is expected to make his pitching debut on Friday night at Phoenix Muni against the Scottsdale Scorpions. We hope that you are able to make it out.
