Garrison Continues to Impress

feat_afl_0040In a close game in Peoria, the Saguaros would edge the Solar Sox by a score of 2 to 1. The lone Mesa run would come from Shortstop and Cubs prospect Starlin Castro as he would hit a homer in the fourth inning to score first. The Saguaros would answer right away with a run of their own in that inning on a Brandon Hicks single that would score Matt McBride. The Saguaros would score again in the bottom of the fifth on a Lance Zawadzki single that would score Jose Vallejo. Pitcher Steve Garrison would throw three consecutive scoreless innings for the Saguaros as he continues to impress in the AFL after recovering from shoulder surgery last year. Read more

Strasburg Goes Five Strikes Out Six

feat_afl_0039Stephen Strasburg would pitch his longest outing of the Arizona Fall League as he earns the victory against the Surprise Rafters. Strasburg would pitch five innings allowing only one earned run as he gets both offensive and pitching support from his Phoenix counterparts. Center fielder and Athletics’ prospect would go 2-for-5 with one run scored. First baseman and Washington Nationals’ prospect Chris Marrero would play as the designated hitter delivering five RBI as he shows off his hitting skills at the expense of the Rafters. Read more
