Okay so it is their second home but the Chicago Cubs announced late this week that they are leaps closer to staying at their spring training home of Mesa, Arizona. The announcement comes as quite a blow to the Grapefruit League as they continue to lose teams to the Valley of the Sun. The Cubs have been a regular fan favorite for visitors and locals alike. Diamondbacks 2010 Fan Fest

The 6th annual Diamondbacks Fan Fest will be here before you know it. On Saturday, February 13th Chase Field will be open to the public with free admission to all of the fans. Previous year’s Fan Fests have been a huge hit with baseball addicts as they have had the opportunity to meet players up close and personal. The D-backs will be back in town gearing up for Spring Training making their first stop their most important one to pay tribute to their fans. Read more
Announcing the Phoenix Fanster Athlete of the Year

The annual Fanster Phoenix Athlete of the Year poll is out. The annual poll is voted on by writers and contributors of the Phoenix sports community. Several Arizona baseball players made the list, including high school and college players.

Florida Stepping Up Attracting – Keeping Teams

As Spring Training is rapidly approaching the headlines in Florida are surrounding their move to keep teams in Florida. In the next five years there will be eight teams due to renegotiate leases. Florida recognizes the economic benefit that spring baseball brings to their state and is discussing legislation to improve the current condition of spring training at the Grapefruit League. Last year there was an even split in attendance for both the Cactus and Grapefruit Leagues with 1.5 million visitors to both states. Read more
