Diamondbacks 2010 Fan Fest

January 22, 2010 by AZ Hardball

diamondbacks fan festThe 6th annual Diamondbacks Fan Fest will be here before you know it. On Saturday, February 13th Chase Field will be open to the public with free admission to all of the fans. Previous year’s Fan Fests have been a huge hit with baseball addicts as they have had the opportunity to meet players up close and personal. The D-backs will be back in town gearing up for Spring Training making their first stop their most important one to pay tribute to their fans.

At the event, you will be able to take part in autograph sessions, clubhouse tours and Wiffle Ball for the kids with some of their favorite players. There will also be kid zones and a sports card memorabilia trading show on the field. Fox Sports Arizona and KTAR 620 will be broadcasting from the event as well. Coaches, players, alumni, broadcasters and team management are all expected to be present at the event.

Last year we had the opportunity to shake hands with team President Derrick Hall and get up close to many of the players. This is definitely not an experience that you want to miss. So get there however you can. The event will take place from 10am – 5pm. Remember, the Light Rail stops near the park, so grab your kids and your friends and join us.

For the first time since the player`s strike,I will not be going to any spring training games. The incredibly poor product The D`backs are putting on the field is not the culprit, but merely a symptom. The horrendous ownership that is producing a lousy team is also responsible for pulling out of Tucson.
This is a group that let the top 2 pitchers in baseball go without getting anything of value in return. They changed the team colors, forced Gonzo to leave the organization, signed Byrnes & Young to huge contracts after 2 good months, botched the Brandon Webb diagnosis for an entire season, put on a really bush league tribute for The Big Unit, the list goes on!
Does anybody remember the slow start last season? It was the popular opinion that because of The World Baseball Classic,The D`backs hadn`t developed any team chemistry, and opened with a ton of home games. The hope was that the chemistry would come during the first extended road trip.Doesn`t anyone in this front office understand the advantage of spring training beeing away from home? The D`backs made a commitment to Tucson, that they would be an Arizona team and not just a Phoenix team.
The only advantage The Phoenix D`backs have is revenue flow from putting fans in the seats.Phoenicians have proven that they will not support a loser, and I know that I will never give The D`backs another dime!In the future I foresee a lot of empty seats.
