Seattle Wins Peoria Showdown

March 4, 2010 by AZ Hardball

The San Diego Padres and the Seattle Mariners would meet up Thursday at the Peoria Sports Complex for the first full day of spring training. Both teams call Peoria their spring home but, only one would reign victorious for this game. Seattle would edge ahead with the lead while their pitching would shut out San Diego batting for three straight innings.

The Padres would come back to tie the game only to be blown out in the bottom of the eighth inning. The Mariners would bring the heavy artillery as they produced six runs in the eighth to secure their lead and the victory. A grand slam homerun from first baseman Tommy Everidge would help catapult the Mariners in the eighth as they would be able to add two more runs to that to win the game.
