Drew Hot in D-Backs First Win

March 7, 2010 by

The Diamondbacks were able to dodge the rainy weather in Phoenix today as they split their squads in Tucson to play their neighboring Colorado Rockies. Arizona would win the first of their two games with the help of Stephen Drew. Drew would lead off the game with a double as he makes adjustments this spring to get his stroke back. In the first inning of play the D-backs would earn two runs and turn up the heat the following inning.

In the second inning, the D-backs would score a total of six more runs. In that inning Rusty Ryal and Stephen Drew would each homer for the team as they extend the lead. The Rockies would score three runs in the fourth and the D-backs would answer with a run of their own in the bottom of that inning. Both Connor Jackson and Stephen Drew would hit homeruns for Arizona and Ian Kennedy would earn his first win. The game would be called after six innings due to the incoming weather from the Phoenix area. The D-backs with the help of Mother Nature would secure their first spring victory.
