Cubs right-handed starter Ryan Dempster pitched two perfect innings before Sean Marshall allowed a run in the the second of his two innings pitched. Oakland only managed four hits including a two-run homer from Josh Donaldson. Chicago erupted for seven runs in the 7th inning including an RBI by former D-back third baseman Chad Tracy. Short stop Mike Fontenot added a two-run double in the 7th inning. The Cubs moved to 3-1 in the spring while the A’s fell to 2-2.
