The Chicago Cubs behind strong pitching downed the Oakland Athletics by a score of 10-3 in Phoenix today. Cubs right-handed starter Ryan Dempster pitched two perfect innings before Sean Marshall allowed a run in the the second of his two innings pitched. Oakland would use nine pitchers with the roughest outing coming from Fautino De Los Santos who allowed three hits, two walks and six runs to score while not recording an out.

Oakland only managed four hits including a two-run homer from Josh Donaldson. Chicago erupted for seven runs in the 7th inning including an RBI by former D-back third baseman Chad Tracy. Short stop Mike Fontenot added a two-run double in the 7th inning. The Cubs moved to 3-1 in the spring while the A’s fell to 2-2.
