Reds bats explode to down KC
March 8, 2010 by Dean
The Cincinnati Reds hope DH Jonny Gomes will bring a much needed presence to the lineup this year and after today’s 2-for-4 outing which included a 3-run homer, they look to have reason to be hopeful. Center fielder Drew Stubbs and first baseman Danny Dorn also added homers off KC pitching.
Between the third and eighth inning Royals pitching would allow 14 runs on 12 hits and 7 walks. Reds starter Bronson Arroyo would retire all six of the batters he faced in the first two innings. Reds pitcher Aroldis Chapman looked very impressive pitching a scoreless third and fourth innings allowing only one hit on three strikeouts including a 100-mph pitch. Cincinnati now will host the D-backs tomorrow.
