Another Slugfest in Surprise

March 9, 2010 by

Surprise Stadium may be in the beginnings of being known as a hitter’s park as, for the second straight day, more than 20 runs would be scored. Oakland would get off to a hot start by scoring two runs in the first and three more in the second inning of play. The Royals would close in on the A’s as they scored three runs in the fourth inning.

As the A’s seemed to solidify their lead with three more runs scored, Kansas City would have themselves a big sixth inning that was highlighted by a three run shot by Rick Ankiel. The A’s would be able to score a couple more runs for the remainder of the game but it was not enough to win the game. The Royals’ Mitch Maier would slam another home run in the eighth inning to close the gap. The final two runs would come in the bottom of the ninth as KC secures the victory.
