Athletics Hold Off Padres

March 14, 2010 by

Oakland’s other half of their split squad would stay in Phoenix as they faced the San Diego Padres. The Padres who were coming off of a loss to the Rangers the previous day would not be able to score until the third inning. By that time, the A’s had already put three runs on the board for the game. With the game tied, the A’s would score two more runs in regain the lead.

In the bottom of the ninth, the Padres would have a huge inning wich was highlighted by a solo homer by DH Dallas McPherson. With the five runs in the ninth, the Padres would be able to take back the lead. Oakland would score one run in the bottom of the ninth to send the game into extra innings. In the bottom of the tenth, the A’s would be able to score once more to defeat the San Diego Padres by a score of nine to ten.
