Sheets picks up first win of spring for A’s

March 20, 2010 by

Ben Sheets had his best outing yet for the Oakland Athletics as the starter lasted four innings allowing only one run on three hits while walking three and striking out four. A much better outing than his last appearance earlier this week when he allowed ten runs without retiring a batter. His counterpart Chicago Cubs starter Tom Gorzelanny had an adventurous day allowing two runs, none earned on four hits and five walks while striking out five in his 3.2 innings of work.

Cubs first baseman Micah Hoffpauir would go 2-for-4 on the day with two runs scored. Short stop Ryan Flaherty would knock in two runs. Six A’s would drive in one run each including third baseman Gegorio Petit who was 2-for-3 on the day.
