Oakland Takes Early Lead to Down the Mariners

March 22, 2010 by

Oakland and Seattle would play in Peoria on Monday as the Athletics would have a big second inning, which was capped off with a three run blast by designated hitter Coco Crisp. In the second inning, the A’s would be able to drive in a total of five runs, giving the team a pretty comfortable lead. In the following inning, the A’s would score once more to extend their lead to six to nothing.

The Mariners would only be able to score two runs as the Oakland defense went to work. Despite the Athletics’ two errors, they were able to hold off the Mariners as they contributed behind their pitching staff. Oakland pitching only combined for two strikeouts in seven scoreless innings. The Athletics would win the game by a score of seven to two.
