Rockies use 7-run inning to down Reds

Cincinnati Reds starter Aaron Harang started strong throwing two shutout innings before being rocked for seven runs in the third inning. The opening day starter allowed a total of nine hits and walked two with one strikeout in 2.2 innings. Colorado Rockies starter Ubaldo Jimenez held the Reds hitless through three innings and scoreless through four and would up allowing five hits and three earned runs in 4.2 innings.

The Reds would go yard twice in the fifth inning off Jimenez. Jonny Gomes hit his fifth home run of the spring to lead off the fifth inning and Laynce Nix added the second. For the Rockies short stop Troy Tulowitzki’s two-run homer got things going in the 7-run third.
