The San Francisco Giants faced the Milwaukee Brewers as the Giants would light up the scoreboard in the first five innings of play. The Giants would drive in two runs in the first thanks to a two-run homer by Eugenio Velez. In the third inning, the Giants would drive in two more as they increased their lead. In the top of the fifth, John Bowker would hit a two-run shot giving San Francisco a six to nothing lead. In the following inning, the Giants would drive in one more run.

The Brewers would attempt to stage a comeback by scoring three runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings. During those innings both Weeks and Koshansky would hit solo homers. In the ninth inning the Giants would score one more run as the Brewers would drive in three in the bottom of the ninth. Still two runs back, the Brewers would lose to the Giants by a score of six to eight. Giants’ pitcher Jonathan Sanchez would throw for six innings, striking out eleven before giving up his first run and being removed from the game.
