Oakland Shuts Out Bay Area Neighbors

April 1, 2010 by

Oakland would get off to a jump-start on the Giants of San Francisco as the two teams played at AT&T Park. In the first inning Kurt Suzuki would hit a two-run shot off of Barry Zito. Oakland would score two more in the third inning as the Giants would be unable to put any runs up on the board. The Athletics would score three more runs in the fifth inning and one more in the eighth.

Oakland pitching would prove to be the story as Justin Duchscherer would throw six innings, striking out six of the batters that he faced. Oakland relief would prove to be effective as they were able to keep the wood off of the ball for majority of the remainder of the game. The Athletics beat the Giants by a final score of nine to zero.
