The Giants would begin with the lead after scoring one run in the first inning of play. Lincecum would have a no hitter through three innings that would be broken up by Stephen Drew. The Giants would score again in the fourth inning making the game two to nothing.

The Diamondbacks would have a great bottom of the fifth inning, scoring five runs in the inning. The five runs would be highlighted by a two-run shot by Mark Reynolds to deep left field. Mark Reynolds’ home run would be home run number 100 putting him in third on the all time Diamondbacks home run list. In the following inning, Lopez would give up back-to-back solo home runs to the Giants.

After giving up two more runs, Lopez would be removed from the game just before the Giants were able to tie the game at five and eventually take the lead. In the bottom of the seventh inning, the D-backs would be able to score two more runs off of a couple of run scoring doubles.

In the bottom of the eighth, with the score tied, Conor Jackson with a heads-up base running play scores a go-ahead run on a wild pitch. In a toe-to-toe battle between the two teams, the D-backs would leave Aaron Heilman as he would get two batters to pop out in the bottom of the ninth. Chad Qualls would come into the game to close the game out with a strikeout. A great job by the D-backs as they earn themselves a large victory.

The Arizona Diamondbacks would come off of a tough loss against one of the better teams in the Majors from a day prior. In Sunday’s game, the score would be in Philadelphia’s favor at the beginning of the game. The Phillies would score two runs in the first inning and carry the lead through to the fifth where they would add one more run to the score, leading the D-backs by a score of three to nothing.

It was in the bottom of the fifth inning where the D-backs would explode offensively, scoring five runs. Two of the runs would score on a Kelly Johnson homer and three on a home run by Mark Reynolds. Despite their current below .500 record, the D-backs lead the National League with home runs. Reynolds and Johnson happen to also be in the top ten major leaguers with homers to date.

After taking a two-run lead, the D-backs let it slip away as they found themselves one run down after the sixth inning. The D-backs would score one more run in the seventh inning to tie the game up as they looked to the bullpen. With the relief issues as of late, the bullpen was able to hold on as Arizona would drive in two more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to take the lead.

Mark Reynolds would drive in multiple RBI that would account for half of the runs in the game while going three for five. Qualls would come in to earn the save as he came in to the game in the bottom of the ninth to retire all three batters, two of which with strikeouts.

This series and this game is a huge win for the Diamondbacks as they prepare for a challenging eleven game road trip to face the Rockies, Cubs and Astros.

Ian Kennedy would be looking for his first win as a Diamondback as he pitched Saturday night against the Phillies in game two of a three game series. The Phillies would start off with the lead as a result of scoring one run in the second inning. The run would come as a homer to Jayson Werth. It was not until the fifth inning that the D-backs were able to drive in any runs as Kelly Johnson would hit a two-run homer for his sixth of the season. Arizona would gain the lead as a result of the blast.

Ian Kennedy would retire 15 in a row before giving up a solo homer to Raul Ibanez in the seventh inning. Kennedy would pitch eight innings for the first time in his career as he left the game for Juan Gutierrez. Kennedy would only allow four hits against a very tough hitting team. Gutierrez would give up a long homer to deep center field to Jayson Werth in the top of the ninth inning to give the Phillies the lead. The Diamondbacks’ bullpen suffers yet another setback as they continue to give up runs in the eighth and ninth innings.

The D-backs would not be able to score again as they take the loss with the score three to two against a tough opponent. The Phillies average twice as many runs against opponents as they were able to edge the D-backs at Chase Field. Kyle Kendrick will pitch against Rodrigo Lopez for the final game of the series on Sunday as the D-backs look to take the series.

Some other items of note during the game include Justin Upton sharply hitting a ball off his foot. He seemed to be okay but the team may want to keep an eye on it. Mark Reynolds leg seems to still be bothering him and speculation exists with Gerardo Parra’s legs as Cole Gillespie was sent in to pinch run for him in the ninth inning. Gillespie who is not known for his speed stole a couple of bases with the Scottsdale Scorpions and Two during spring training.

The Phillies are a solid contender in the National League East and would face the D-backs in what would seem to be an uneven matchup on paper. The Diamondbacks made a statement on Friday night bringing the lumber, hitting a total of five home runs in a huge win for Arizona.

With Kris Benson on the mound for Arizona and Cole Hamels for the Phillies, the game would begin as a bit of a pitching duel as neither team would get on the board until the third inning. Philadelphia would score first, driving in one run in the third and another in the fourth to have a two to nothing lead over Arizona. The D-backs would score five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning including three homers from the team. Mark Reynolds, Adam LaRoche and Chris Snyder would all go yard on Cole Hamels as the team would take a three run lead.

In the bottom of the fifth with Hamels still in the game, Kelly Johnson would join the party by hiting a solo shot to extend the Arizona lead. The Phillies would be able to put up another run in the seventh inning but, the day was not over for Kelly Johnson. Johnson would hit another blast in the seventh inning to further extend the D-backs lead. Aaron Heilman would give up a run to Philadelphia in the top of the ninth inning before Chad Qualls would come in to wrap up the game and get the save.

The win against the Phillies should be a huge confidence booster for the club as they look to face some pretty solid teams on the road once this series is over. On Saturday, Nelson Figueroa is expected to face Ian Kennedy as Kennedy looks for his first win as an Arizona Diamondback. Saturday is also Justin Upton bobble head day in the event that you want to get out to the park.

Edwin Jackson would face Chris Carpenter and the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals would score some runs early on with three runs crossing the plate. Two of the first inning runs of the Cardinals would come as a result of home run from Colby Rasmus and one more run would score to give the Cardinals a three to nothing lead. The D-backs would score two runs in the third inning of play as they looked to stage a comeback.

Edwin Jackson would pitch well throughout the game, nearly matching the pitching stats of Chris Carpenter. Carpenter would throw six more strikes than Jackson but Edwin Jackson would pitch four consecutive innings without a run. In the top of the sixth, the Cardinals would score once more as the D-backs would catch up to tie the game in the bottom of the eighth inning.

In the ninth inning, the Arizona bullpen would show weakness once again as Qualls and Howry combine for five earned runs including a homer a piece. In an altercation involving Chris Carpenter and Edwin Jackson, the benches would clear with only shouting taking place. Later on in the inning, Carpenter would show his frustration when not being able to take out second baseman Kelly Johnson. Keep your eyes on the next matchup between these two teams as there may be potential for some more tempers flaring.

Cole Gillespie would be called in to pinch hit as he earns himself a double for the D-backs in the loss. Mark Reynolds would not start in tonight’s game while he takes a planned day off to rest his quadriceps which have been acting up during the spring. The D-backs lose the game and the series to the Cardinals by a score of nine to four as a result of a five-run ninth inning for St. Louis.

The Diamondbacks will be taking Thursday off to gear up to face the Philadelphia Phillies beginning Friday. Cole Hamels is expected to face Kris Benson on Friday night which will be followed up with post game fireworks, weather permitting.

Dan Haren would be looking for his second win of the season as the game would begin on a sour note for the D-backs, In the first inning of play, the Diamondbacks would give up two runs as a result of a two-run blast by right fielder Ryan Ludwick. The D-backs would answer back in that inning with two runs of their own to tie the game at two.

In the third inning, the teams would look to go run-for-run again as the Cardinals would score twice but Arizona would be able to drive in three runs to gain the lead. With Haren still in the game, the Cardinals were able to score three more runs off of the D-backs’ ace as he would continue to give up runs despite striking out eight batters in the game. This is a testament to the power that is owned by the St. Louis team.

In the bottom of that same inning, Mark Reynolds would launch his fifth homer of the season, a three-run shot that would maintain the Diamondbacks lead for the game. Haren would be removed from the game after six and the Diamondbacks would score an insurance run in the bottom of that inning to give the team a two-rum lead.

The Arizona Diamondbacks snap their five game losing streak as Chris Carpenter will face Edwin Jackson in the final game of the series.

Beating the St. Louis Cardinals is no easy feat. The Cardinals are favored to with the National League Central and are the proud owners of one of the best three-four hitting combos in the Major Leagues. The Arizona Diamondbacks came out with a bang but went out with a fizzle in the team’s fifth straight loss. This game was a tough loss at home for the Arizona Diamondbacks as they continue their challenging home stand.

The Diamondbacks would begin with the lead as a result of Mark Reynolds hitting in two RBI in the first inning of play. For the remainder of the game, D-backs pitcher Rodrigo Lopez would play with fire as he would allow several base runners on for several innings of the game. With the danger of letting too many runners on base, he seemed to perform well under pressure. Regardless, it would make for a very risky pitching situation for Arizona.

Matt Holliday would hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning to tie the game and put the Cardinals back in it. D-backs relief would give up a run in the eighth and another in the ninth inning as the Cardinals are able to defeat the Diamondbacks by a score of four to two.

Arizona has been stating that the relief staff for this year does look better than that of last year’s. This has yet to be seen. There have been several blown saves throughout the prior stretch, which does not bode well for the staff. The team knows that winning home games is important, especially against such high-caliber teams such as the Cardinals and the Philadelphia Phillies who they will be facing in the next series.

Kyle Lohse will face off against Dan Haren on Tuesday night as the D-backs look to return the favor. Another item of note is that Conor Jackson has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring.

After a tough loss on Saturday, the Arizona Diamondbacks would face the Pittsburgh Pirates for the last game of the series and the last game of the home stand as they get ready to travel to Southern California. Edwin Jackson would be on the mound for the D-backs as they looked to help him to his first victory. No one would have thought that any records would be set today as Arizona had a brush with the record books.

The Pirates would score first in the first inning as they were able to take the lead right away. The D-backs would answer in the second inning with a Chris Snyder two-run homer that would give the team a one-run lead. In the Third inning, Jackson would give up three runs as the Pirates found themselves back on top with a two-run lead. Jackson would be throwing plenty of pitches for strikes despite the four runs but the lead would belong to the Bucs after three. Just when D-backs fans were thinking run support, the bottom of the fourth came around.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Diamondbacks would explode offensively as they were able to put a franchise record thirteen runs on the board. The thirteen runs would be the most runs scored in a single inning by the franchise in it’s history. To start the inning LaRoche would reach first base on a walk, followed by Mark Reynolds reaching on a fielder’s choice. Chris young would clear the bases with a three-run shot to left field. Just when fans thought the team was done, the beating continued.

Both Conor and Edwin Jackson would reach base on a couple of singles before Stephen Drew would hit them in with a two-RBI triple. Pirates’ starter Daniel McCutchen would leave the game as his replacement would walk Upton, give up a single to LaRoche and walk Reynolds and Kelly Johnson. Chris Snyder would double to center field brining in three more runs as the team would have eleven runs so far in the inning. To cap off the inning, pitcher Edwin Jackson contributed to his cause as he belts a two-run blast over the left field fence to give the D-backs thirteen total runs in the inning.

D-backs bats would be quiet for the remainder of the game as the Pirates were able to drive in two runs in the ninth inning. The two runs would be too little too late as the Diamondbacks defeat the Pirates by nine runs. Edwin Jackson would notch his first victory for the D-backs as he strikes out three with four earned runs in seven innings pitched.

The latest on Miguel Montero is that he will placed on the 15-day disabled list due to the incident with his knee the day prior. The team is anticipating that he may need surgery To replace Montero, the D-backs called up John Hester from Reno as he arrived at the team on Sunday.

The D-backs will be heading into a challenging series against the Dodgers with a full head of steam as they get ready to make a statement on the road. The Dodgers are on a two-game skid as they send Clayton Kershaw to face Ian Kennedy.

Haren would give up six runs, five of them earned, including two home runs in the game. The Pirates would score one run in both the first and second innings before scoring three more in the fourth.

The D-backs were unable to get anything going against the pitching of Zach Duke as he would pitch seven innings for the Pirates. In the top of the seventh, Pittsburgh would score one more run as they would lead by a score of six to nothing. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Mark Reynolds would hit a towering two-run blast that would reach Friday’s Front Row. Reynolds’ homer would travel nearly 476 feet into the second deck at Chase Field.

The Diamondbacks would score one more run in the following inning to make the score three to six but were not able to score again for the remainder of the game. Catcher Miguel Montero would leave the game with an injury to his right knee on a single early in the game. He is scheduled to have an MRI but did not claim to have much pain or swelling at the end of the game.

Edwin Jackson will face Daniel McCutchen on Sunday. McCutchen has never faced the Arizona D-backs and Jackson will be seeking his first win for Arizona. McCutchen has also only played in seven games in the majors as the two teams will continue their weekend duel in the desert.

Both teams would remain scoreless through two innings as the D-backs muscled their way to an excellent third inning which would give the team a solid lead. To highlight that inning, outfielder Chris Young would hit a grand slam home run to account for four of the innings six runs.

Young would go on to hit three-for-four with five RBI as he personally contributed more than half of the team’s offense for the game. Another solid contributor was Adam LaRoche as he would go two-for-three with two RBI. In the fourth inning of play, the D-backs would extend their lead to eight to nothing as the Pirates looked to get on the board and Arizona did an excellent job of handling Charlie Morton’s Pitching.

Morton would give up eight earned runs through three and a third innings of play as Rodrigo Lopez would pitch for six innings, allowing one run and striking out five batters as he would get the win. The Pirates would score in the sixth inning as the D-backs would score once more in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead by a score of nine to one. Bob Howry would come in to close out the game as he would strike out two to seal the Arizona win.
