The first place Peoria Saguaros did not want a replay of the loss that they had to Scottsdale last evening. Neither did Gordon Beckham who was explosive in Thursday afternoon’s game. Beckham went 5 for 5 with two home runs to add to the damage that was delivered to Scottsdale. Scottsdale would give up 20 runs to the Peoria Saguaros during their 20-9 loss this afternoon. Cole Armstrong of the White Sox and Bill Rhinehart of the Washington Nationals would also go yard in the high-scoring game.

The struggling Peoria Javelinas return to their winning ways by snapping their eight game losing streak. The Surprise Rafter hosted the team from Peoria giving up all seven runs in three innings. Prior to the half-way mark of the season, the Javelinas were unstoppable as the duo from Peoria we consistently winning games. Today, this is not the same story as the Javelinas are still five games behind Phoenix for the lead in the National Division. Bouncing back from their rough last couple of weeks of play, the Javelinas beat the Rafters by a score of 7-0.

In Mesa, the Solar Sox hosted the solid Phoenix Desert Dogs who seem to be in the AFL Championship Game every year. Looking forward to making it to the championship game, again, this year, the Dogs have continues to play solid baseball throughout the season. Phoenix scored first in their games against Mesa only to allow the lead to return to the Solar Sox when the team took the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning. Phoenix would come back in the top of the eighth inning with three runs of their own, to regain the lead. Mesa would have one more shot to take back the game in the bottom of the ninth inning only go give the game to the Desert Dogs by a score of 4-2. Home runs were delivered by Oakland’s Doolittle and Detroit’s Jeff Larish.
