Los Angeles Angels starter Ervin Santana only allowed one run to score in the first four innings, but in the fifth the wheels fell off and Santana would allow another four earned runs. Not to be outdone, reliever Fernando Rodney walked three of the five men he faced and allowed four earned runs in .1 innings of work.

Angles Howard Kendrick hit a two-run double and Bobby Abreu and Torii Hunter also added an RBI each. Seven of the Indians batters had at least two hits lead by Shin Soo-Choo who went 4-for-6 with three RBIs and a run scored. First baseman Matt LaPorta was 2-for-3 but knocked in five runs.
