Ian Kennedy finishes strong for D-backs

Ian Kennedy got his final start of the spring today and finished strong pitching 5.2 innings and allowing two runs on five hits and a walk. Chad Qualls continued to struggle this summer coming in to relieve Kennedy and was tagged for a run on two hits, one of which was a homer. Kennedy finished the spring with a 2.88 ERA and Qualls finished with a 8.31 ERA. Randy Wolf got the start for the Brewers and was hit hard allowing five runs on seven hits in four innings.

The D-backs big bats had a great spring and finished strong today. Justin Upton went 2-for-3 on the day and scored two runs and hit his 6th homer of the year. Mark Reynolds hit his third homer of the year and went 2-for-4 raising his average to .365. Chris Young looks like he is on track for a bounce back season as he it .316 on the spring and hit his third homer of the spring today. Short stop Stephen Drew is penciled into the second spot in the order and after going 2-for-4 on the spring raised his average to .390.

Fielder’s Grand Slam Sets Tone Against Cubs

The Brewers would get off to a great start of the game with four shutout innings pitched by Gallardo. In the bottom of the third inning, the Brewers would score four runs on a grand slam homer by Prince Fielder. The Cubs would not be able to score until the fifth inning when they would score three runs to close in on the Brewers. Milwaukee would not be able to score a run while the Cubs were able to put three more on the board. Read more

Jonathan Sanchez Electric for Giants

The San Francisco Giants faced the Milwaukee Brewers as the Giants would light up the scoreboard in the first five innings of play. The Giants would drive in two runs in the first thanks to a two-run homer by Eugenio Velez. In the third inning, the Giants would drive in two more as they increased their lead. In the top of the fifth, John Bowker would hit a two-run shot giving San Francisco a six to nothing lead. In the following inning, the Giants would drive in one more run. Read more

Allen Homers in D-backs Runaway Win

The Arizona Diamondbacks would get off to an early lead in the first inning when they were able to knock in one run. The team would then have a huge third inning where they would drive in four runs. After that, the D-backs would not look back. With one more run driven in for Arizona in the fourth inning, they would be the owners of a healthy lead. Read more

Brewers Late Lead Beats Rangers

The Brewers and Rangers would face each other at Maryvale Stadium as the bats for both teams were pretty quiet for the first half of the game. Milwaukee would score the first two runs of the game in the sixth inning off of C.J. Wilson as he was pulled from the game in that inning. The two runs scored would be as a result of a two-run blast by Prince Fielder. Read more
