Strasburg Does Not Disappoint in Debut

feat_afl_0032Stephen Strasburg went three and a third scoreless innings in his Fall League debut as he helped the Phoenix Desert Dogs to a victory over the Scottsdale Scorpions. Amidst the high-pressure of the situation, Strasburg fared well as all eyes were on him this evening. While he had only pitched a few innings before playing in the Arizona Fall League, there had been many skeptics that were concerned about his potential performance. At Phoenix Municipal Stadium there was a large line waiting to catch a glimpse of the Washington Nationals’ first-round draft pick. Desert Dogs Win Fall League Championship

Congratulations to the Phoenix Desert Dogs who have won the Arizona Fall League Championship for the fifth year in a row. Saturday, November 22, 2008 in Scottsdale, Arizona, the Desert Dogs reign victorious as their dynasty continues. Phoenix, who was coming off of a losing streak went head-to-head with the red hot Mesa Solar Sox. With great baseball weather and over 1,800 fans in attendance, the Dogs pull off an amazing victory as they finish off the season as champions. Read more

Phoenix Desert Dogs Clinch Playoff Berth

For the sixth season in a row, the Phoenix Desert Dogs secure a spot in the Arizona Fall League championship game. Although the Dogs were hammered by the visiting Peoria Saguaros, they remain far enough ahead of their division to clinch a spot in the 2008 AFL Championship Game, to be played Saturday, November 22nd at Scottsdale Stadium. The American Division remains undecided as both the Saguaros and the Solar Sox are tied for the lead. Read more

Javelinas, Sox and Dogs Victorious

In a replay of yesterday’s matchups, all teams pair up again to go head to head in day two of week three of the AFL. While both of the day games looked like encores of yesterday’s performances, the Sox took it easy on the Rafters by only beating Surprise by five runs this time around. While it is difficult to duplicate the offense that was displayed yesterday, Mesa pulls out another victory, this time in Surprise. Read more
