D-backs Record Inning is Unlucky 13 for Pirates

After a tough loss on Saturday, the Arizona Diamondbacks would face the Pittsburgh Pirates for the last game of the series and the last game of the home stand as they get ready to travel to Southern California. Edwin Jackson would be on the mound for the D-backs as they looked to help him to his first victory. Haren Ineffective Against Pittsburgh

Dan Haren would not pitch like his usual self as he started the game on Saturday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Haren would give up six runs, five of them earned, including two home runs in the game. The Pirates would score one run in both the first and second innings before scoring three more in the fourth. Chris Young Hits a Grand Slam as D-backs Top Pirates

The Arizona Diamondbacks would open the series against the Pirates on Friday night as they come back from a day rest. Both teams would remain scoreless through two innings as the D-backs muscled their way to an excellent third inning which would give the team a solid lead. To highlight that inning, outfielder Chris Young would hit a grand slam home run to account for four of the innings six runs. Read more

Mark Reynolds went 3-for-5 and hit his 33rd homer of the season the Arizona Diamondbacks before leaving the game with an injury. Stephen Drew and Trent Oeltjen also hit homers in the extra inning win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Read more
D-backs Earn Back-to-back Shutouts

The Diamondbacks would come off of an exciting victory from the previous day to deal nine more scoreless innings to the Pittsburgh Pirates. Max Scherzer was on the mound for the D-backs as he evens up his record at 6-6. Mark Reynolds and Gerardo Parra would go yard in the victory to add some additional run support in the game. Parra would deliver four of the runs for the team as he makes his case for the National League Rookie of the Year. Read more
