2003, the Florida Marlins fire manager Jeff Torborg and turn over the team to 72-year-old Jack McKeon. What a great result as the team goes on to win the World Series. What a great model for the Diamondbacks as today they fired their manager Bob Melvin. There is one major problem with this story, the Marlins are the exception to the rule. Read more

While the situation with Manny Ramirez has taken the front seat in the baseball headlines, the Arizona Diamondbacks announced the release of General Manager Bob Melvin. The team had previously been in the running for the NL west according to several resources and experts before the season began and has all but, fallen apart over the last several weeks. MLB sources have confirmed that Chip Hale will not be his replacement. This makes the situation even more interesting. Read more
